Robert Frost (BCom, LLB)

Executive Director

Head of Investments – OC Funds

Robert joined OC Funds Management in 2001 as a Portfolio Manager with responsibility for the OC Premium, Dynamic and Concentrated Equity Funds. In 2009, Robert was appointed as Head of Investments. As lead portfolio manager, Robert is responsible for portfolio management decisions and overseeing the investment team. He has been instrumental in enhancing the process and procedures of the investment team and marketing the OC Funds.

 

Previously, Robert was a Senior Research Analyst at Austock Group specialising in small and mid-cap industrial companies. His responsibilities included business and industry analysis, financial modelling and company valuation. He has also worked in the derivative divisions at UBS in London and Rabobank in the Netherlands.

Sam Baillieu (BCom)

Portfolio Manager

Sam is one of the founders of OC Funds Management and has been a member of the Investment Team since inception. Sam is also an Executive Director of OC Funds Management. As a senior member of the investment team, Sam focuses on the small and mid cap market security analysis. Sam has developed strong skills in the areas of detailed financial modelling, debt analysis and company valuation and has also developed many corporate relationships within the OC company universe.

 

Sam began his investment career at EL & C Baillieu where he was a member of the research team. Sam’s primary responsibility was to produce research for companies within the ASX100. This research largely involved site visits, detailed financial modelling and competitor analysis.

Stephen Sedgman (BCom)

Risk Management Committee Chairman

Portfolio Manager

Stephen is Chairman of the Risk Management Committee and joined OC Funds Management (formerly Patriot Managed Accounts Pty Ltd) in 2010 with the acquisition of OC Managed Accounts Pty Ltd (formerly Patriot Managed Accounts Pty Ltd) which he founded in 1996. Stephen has generated strong investment performance on behalf of superannuation, corporate, trust, charity and private funds.

 

Stephen has a strong history of establishing high performing investment funds. In partnership with merchant bank Security Pacific, he established SPAL Management in 1985 which by the end of 1987 was the top performing pooled superannuation manager. In 1996 he founded Providence Funds Management which later became Pilgrim Capital, Pilgrim Private, Patriot Managed Accounts and now OC Managed Accounts. Stephen was also the co-founder of Patriot Asset Management Limited and Chairman of its Group Investment Team from July 2005 until the sale of the business in April 2010. During this time Pariot was ranked by Zenith as the No 1 Highly Recommended Manager in the Small Cap category.

Robert Calnon CA (BCom GDipAppFinInv)

Portfolio Manager

Rob joined OC Funds Management as Equities Dealer/Investment Analyst in 2006 and was promoted to Portfolio Manager in 2009. As part of the small-mid cap investment team, Rob is responsible for company and sector analysis. He also has portfolio management responsibilities for the Alpha Plus trading component of the OC Concentrated Equity Fund.

 

Previously, Rob was a Manager in the Investment Accounting Division of the Bank of New York in London. In this role he gained exposure to complex financial products, including offshore investment vehicles, hedge funds and worked closely with some of the world’s largest funds management enterprises. Rob qualified as a chartered accountant in KPMG’s tax practice before joining Ernst & Young Corporate Finance as a Manager in the Mergers and Acquisitions division. Rob has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA.

Stephen Evans CA (BCom)

Portfolio Manager

Stephen joined OC Managed Accounts (formerly Patriot) in April 2004 as an Investment Analyst. Stephen was also a member of the investment team for the Patriot Funds prior to their divestment.  He has been instrumental in the design and construction of the IT framework which facilitates the stages of the investment process from initial stock screening of stocks to the final monitoring of the portfolio. Stephen’s investment systems have brought together the legacy systems of OC Funds Management and Patriot and Ralton into an integrated investment information system.

 

After attaining his Chartered Accountant qualification, Stephen worked in London with fund manager, Man Investments where he gained valuable exposure to complex product structuring, risk and investment systems and large scale funds management. Stephen previously worked as a research assistant at E.L. & C. Baillieu Stockbroking where he developed his financial analysis and modelling skills.

 Andrew Stanley CA (BEc, LLB, FFin, MA Apl Fin)

Head of Large Cap Australian Equities - Ralton Asset Management

Andrew joined Ralton in January 2006, and has 19 years of funds management and investment banking experience having held senior positions with major investment banks in Melbourne, Hong Kong, Tokyo and New York.  Andrew leads the Ralton investment team and is responsible for the management of all Ralton portfolios, supported by an experienced and talented team of investment professionals.
 
Andrew started his career at Arthur Andersen in Melbourne, and maintains an extensive network of contacts in the corporate and finance industries both in Australia and internationally. Andrew has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics (accounting major) from Monash University, a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

 Roger Walling (BOptom, MBB)

Portfolio Manager – Ralton Asset Maangement

Roger joined Ralton in November 2006 as an investment analyst, and has 9 years of direct funds management experience.  Roger is responsible for stock coverage of several industry sectors and assists with the portfolio management process. Roger was previously a shareholder and employee of Cinnabar Equities, a Global Healthcare Fund with offices in both Melbourne and New York. In Roger’s role as Senior Analyst he had sub-sector and stock investment decision responsibility.
 
Prior to his career in financial markets, Roger practiced as an Optometrist, working in both private practice, hospitals and teaching Universities in both Australia and the UK. Roger was previously a Director of The Optometrists Association of Australia (Vic Division) where he fulfilled the role of Treasurer for 4 years. Roger has a Bachelor of Optometry from the University of Melbourne and a Masters of Business and Biotechnology (MBB) from RMIT.
